A

A

A mob of hungry, angry and annoyed citizens stormed it as a representation of power, but also mainly to obtain the ammunition and weapons that were kept there.

A

A

Marie Antoinette had to escape her bed chambers through secret tunnels, because the mob got into the castle.

They demand for Marie to appear on the balcony.

Her stoic behaviour calmed the crowd, however, women still demanded bread and food.

A

Louis XVI is guillotined.

People find letters that Louis wrote that explain how he plans to overthrow the government.

Everybody in the National Convention votes on whether Louis XVI has committed treason, to which everyone agrees that he is guilty.

Louis XVI is sentenced to death from a vote that was 361 to 288.

Louis was just found guilty of treason.

A

Robespierre is given the nickname the “incorruptible”, because how can you corrupt someone that is already evil.

A

Because between June of 1793-July 1794, over 17 thousand people were arrested and guillotined without any regard for judicial procedure (no trial).

People were just being killed left, right and center.
