Why was France in a financial crisis?

A

 French government was not managing money as well as their rivals in England, King Louis XVI and the Nobles still spent money on unnecessary things
 War - i.e. The American Revolution and the Seven Years war
 Privileged estate refused to chip in by paying taxes

What was the economic crisis happening in France?

A

 Most of France’s economy was made up from the agriculture industry
 Peasants paid most of the country’s taxes, if there is bad weather peasants cannot pay taxes
 1787-1789 there were two bad harvests in a row
 Unemployment ensued, people were starving, prices were high
 People in the third estate were called “Sans – Culottes” because they could only afford pants

A

Because the third estate brought their Cashier de Doleance to them because they wanted to voice their concerns

 He is appointed as the minister of justice
 His task was to find anybody who was against the revolution and try them
he ends up getting executed
