What is the Dharma
The Buddha’s teachings and truths about life and suffering
Describe Siddhartha’s first sermon (who/where)
Siddhartha found his five followers who had initially left him when he abandoned asceticism. His first sermon took place in a deer park near the River Ganges
Explain the first Noble Truth
All creatures experience suffering. Even if someone is not going through physical suffering, they along with every other being are feeling some form of pain whether it is emotional or mental
Explain the second Noble Truth
Suffering is caused by selfish desires. The world is always changing, and with it, every human being’s compulsively shifting dissatisfaction. Happiness is never permanent.
Explain the third Noble Truth
There is a way to escape suffering. If someone can exterminate the Three Poisons from their life and live without the cores of suffering (greed, hatred and delusion)
Explain the fourth Noble Truth
The way to escape suffering is by following the Eightfold Path ( a key section of the Dharma containing eight factors of Buddhism that can help a Buddhist achieve enlightenment
