What is the first cause argument?
A
Everything in the world has a cause. Therefore the universe must have a cause. That cause is god.

Why does Aquilas believe god must be the first cause?
A
The first cause must itself be I caused otherwise cause and effect will go on forever. God is the only I caused being as he is eternal and transcendent.

What are the weaknesses of the first cause argument?
A
Atheists think that god cannot be exempt from the laws of cause and effect and must too have a cause. Others believe something else was the first cause e.g the Big Bang
