PLOT summary
Redcrosse Knight is on quest and traveling with young lade and deaf servant
- on a quest by the queen of Marie land to fight and slay a dragon ( reference to queen Elizabeth)
- storm, take coverage in forest, when clears they discover that they are lost near a cave - which ends up being the den of the dragon
- Redcroosee enters and is attacked by Error, then he chops off her head, the babies drink her blood until they burst/die
-Recross is victorious, continue on journey , at nigh meet old hermit that invite them his inn
they sleep and the hermit takes his real form as Archimago and conjures up two spirits to trouble redcrosse (nightmares)
- burst of love/lust (spirit one) sexual dreams of Una, then he wake s to see someone resembling Una next to hi (2nd spirit)
- Redcrosse resists temptation retiring to sleep but Arch-i- mago wakes him again and portrays Una with another young man in bed with her
Redcrosse is mad at Una and leaves without her in the morning

- both Duessa and Achrimago are examples of how deception tries to prevent donor and the honourable Redcrosse knight throughout his quest
Love and lust
motivate a lot of decisions in the poem
- some good decisions rooted in love ( Una recruiting Arthur to help look forRedcrosse) and some rooted in lust (Deussa tricking Redcross)
