Plot summary

A

Equiano is sold to the owner of the slave ship and goes on a journey across the ocean to NA where he is destined to work. In contrast to the conventional European belief that black people were uncivilized and inferior, Equiano turns the table and suggest that Europeans are the “savage” and brutal people that possess no morals. Asking readers to consider who the real “civilized person” is, someone who has the facility with language to tell the story of his life or the English who are engaged in brutal, inhuman practices

in second excerpt, he talks about freeing himself from slavery and exclaims that this was the happiest day of his life- he buys back his freedom (40 pounds)and spends 8 pounds on a ice suit
