Cornea
A tough clear cover of the front of the eye.
Sclera
The thick, tough, white outer coating of the eye
Iris
A muscle that controls how much light enters the eye.
Pupil
The hole that lets light into the eye
Aqueous Humor
Clear fluid that helps the cornea keep it’s shape.
Lens
Clear Flexible structure that makes and focuses an image onto the retina.
Ciliary Muscle
Tiny Muscles around the lens that squeeze and stretch the lens to focus.
Vitreous Humor
Thick jelly-like substance that gives the eye it’s shape.
Optic Nerve
Sends the electrical messages to the brain.
Retina
Sensitive tissue which lines the back of the eye containing rods and cones.
Fovea
Small area on retina that gives sharpest vision and only contains cones.
Photoreceptors
Light Sensitive cells (rods and cones)
Rods
Cells found in Retina that sense the degree of brightness that helps us see in the dark.
Cones
Cells located in the retina that sense colors with long, medium, and short wavelenghts.
