Forces and Collisions Flashcards
study for
Speed def
The rate at which someone or something is able to move or operate.
Mass
Amount of matter measured in an object.
Force
A push or pull
Contact Force
A push or pull between objects that touch
Newton
Unit of measurement for force (N)
Deformation
A change in shape
Elastic Limit
The amount of force it takes for an object can take and still return to it’s original shape
Breaking Point
The amount of force it takes for an object to break (permanent damage)
Kinetic Energy
Energy which an object possesses by being in motion.
Friction
An interaction/collision between particles that transfers kinetic energy.
Air resistance
Friction between air particles and another object.
Do all objects bend when a force is applied to them? Why?
Yes, all objects bend when a force is applied to them because when an object pushes on another the other object pushes back and causes a change in shape.
