Pope Alexander VI divided new lands between Portugal and Spain. Portugal got Africa (and Brazil) and Spain got New World

The economic system of forced labor in South America and the Caribbean, almost slavery. Spanish Colonial version of plantations.
Dutch East India Company
Dutch company founded in 1602, created a permanent pool of capital to sustain trade and resulted in a dramatic expansion of commerce with Asia.
Combined government management of trade with both public and private investment.
Slave Trade
The Triangle Trade between the Americas, Africa, and Europe. European trade agreement with Africa dealing with slaves brought from Africa.
Mercantilism
This was an economic strategy where nations created a “favorable” balance of trade where one’s country exported more than it imported.

A regal official who runs a country, colony, city, or province, in the name of and as the representative of the monarch of the territory.
