6
Q

How have O2 and CO2 levels changed?

A
Volcanos release CO2 and water vapour.
Water vapour condenses- oceans.
CO2 dissolves into ocean.
Photosynthesis by plants makes O2.
Levels of CO2 decrease.
Oxygen increases.

7
Q

Why has CO2 decreased?

A

Dissolved into the ocean
Got compressed and locked up in fossil fuels and sedimentary rock.
Some taken in by plants for photosynthesis.
Some used to form fossil shells.

9
Q

What is the greenhouse effect?

A

Shortwave solar radiation passes through atmosphere.
Longwave infared is reflected back at the earth.
Some longwave us absorbed by greenhouse particles and emitted back at the earth.
This warms the earths surface and lowers the atmosphere.

16
Q

What is a carbon footprint?

A

Total amount of carbon dioxide and greenhouse gasses emitted over the full cycle of an event.

17
Q

Carbon capture?

A

Taking CO2 produced from factories and putting it under ground.

18
Q

Carbon neutral?

A

Process with no overall release of carbon dioxide.

19
Q

Carbon off-setting?

A

Doing things to increase the natural removable of CO2 e.g planting trees
