A disease that is due to hypersensitivity
What are the risk factors for asthma?
Family history of atopic disease Coexistance of atopic disease. Accurs during puberty (males) or after puberty (females) Bronchiolitis in infancy Parental smoking Low birthweight/ premature
What usually causes asthma death?
Lack of proper treatment
What is the problem with conditions more commonly managed in primary care?
Hospital statistics will miss these people?
What does smoking increase the risk of?
Lung cancer, emphysema, COPD, CHD, Stroke, Oral Cancers, Circulatory damage - gangrene, Breast cancer, cervical cancer, asthma, and ulcers.
Does the risk of getting bad effects of smoking increase when they smoke less a day?
Yes
Do ex-smokers have a lesser risk of getting the bad effects of smoking compared to nonsmokers?
No - they have a higher risk
Does filters prevent the risks of smoking?
No- they lessen the risk though
Why can’t we ban smoking?
They are a big global trade and often sole source of income in some places. The finished products have very high profit margins and they can be TAXED!!!
