The Environment Flashcards
How can we look after the world?
Conservation
Earth summits
Sustainable development
How is the destruction of habitats damaging the world?
This equals deforestation and building which then causes extinction
What are some natural resources?
Renewable energy
Fossil fuels
How is climate change damaging the world?
Climate change -> global warming -> melting ice caps -> rising sea levels -> floods
What is the definition of awe?
A feeling of respect; insight into meaning greater than oneself
What is the definition of wonder?
Marvelling at the complexity and beauty of the universe

The trapping of heat from the sun in the lower atmosphere due to an increase in carbon dioxide, methane and other pollution. This causes global warming and creates climate change.
What is climate change?
The idea that the earths climate and weather is changing as a result of global warming caused by the greenhouse effect
What is global warming?
The scientific concept that the world is getting warmer. Blamed on greenhouse effect.
What is recycling?
Reusing old products to make new ones.
What is pollution?
