The unjust or prejudice treatment of different categories of people especially on race/age/sex

How can family affect p&d?
You will have grown up hearing their specific opinions which may lead to you believing them
How can media affect p&d?
You may agree with what media tells us as it is shown and voiced by/ to a huge part of society
How can school/education effect p&d?
Generally we believe everything taught in school is right so we may sub consciously imitate an opinion we are taught.
What is prejudice?
Preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience
How does religion effect p&d?
In religion we are taught very specific things to believe and do– they may be/often are prejudice
How may government affect p&d?
The government policies- benefits etc. - may influence our opinions as we may believe they are all knowing.

Unfettered right to do what one wants when one wants as one wants, except where it infringes/ prevents another from doing what they want OR something that could harm self/others
What is sexism?
Prejudice, stereotyping or discrimination- typically against women on the basis of sex(gender)
What is religious prejudice?
Intolerance against another’s religious beliefs or practices/ lack thereof
What is scapegoating?
A person who is blamed for the wrongdoings, mistakes or faults of others- especially for reasons of expediency
What is tolerance?
Willingness to tolerate the existence of opinions or behaviour that one dislikes or disagrees with
What is positive discrimination?
The practise or policy of favouring individuals belonging to groups which suffer discrimination
What is stereotyping?
A widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing
What is racism?
The belief that all members of each race possess characteristics etc- especially as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race
What is equality?
The state of being equal, especially in status, rights or opportunities
What did Muhatma ghandi do to remove racism from society?
- he started a campaign for the rights of Indians living in South Africa
- he told people not to pay unfair tax
- he fought racism with love
- he did campaigns to get people to support him
- he used a method of non violent mass civil disobedience
