The Employed

What Am i writing about?

A

The Shops Act of 1911

“Some historians argue that the Shops Act of 1911 was not successful at providing adequate support for Britain’s Employed. The act introduced a number of changes to how shop workers were to be treated by their employers.”

The Employed

Analysis

A
  • Helped thoes who worked in shops.
  • Less likely to be overworked.
“These both had a positive impact on the employed as those who worked as shops workers were less likely to be over worked due to the weekly hour restriction and the half days holidays, thereby improving the lives of some of the employed.”

The Employed

Counter Analysis

A
  • only covered shop workers so it did not help other workers.
  • extreamly limited.

“However, this act only covered shop workers and did not include those with other occupations, this extremely limited the effectiveness of this legislation at improving the lives of the Employed.”

Conclusion

A

“Overall, although the shops act of 1911 did improve working conditions of those working in shops it didn’t address any other occupations there by it is clear that the act failed to make a significant improvement to the lives of the Employed.”
