Consumers using mobile devices as booking tills or digital keys for access to rooms, etc.

Explain Globalisation
Means that we can communicate to sell and Compete/collaborate easily with people all over the world. Hotel chains can exchange data between sites across the globe easily.
Explain Fraud
Criminals are rife on the Internet and use many innovative schemes to defraud people from locking data to stealing ID’s
Explain digital systems
From TV to telephones from signage to say and systems, many systems are now being converted to digital systems to increase user friendliness and flexibility. Staff and guests are now able to change and customise offerings and services instantly
Explain Speed
And move to real-time transaction thanks to digitisation of documents, products and services. Many business Process can now be delivered much quicker/more efficiently. E.g. Downloading music/TV series, booking hotel room and receiving confirmation of the booking/payment

The amount of information now being generated is accelerating constantly. So much so that we now require intelligent search tools to help us find what we are looking for. Imagine the volume of data generated in a hotel every day, as every digital interaction is recorded, from POS systems to online reservations everything in between

The use of electronic digital payment devices are increasing from contactless cards, to mobile devices for micro payments

Markets are moving online, look at tourism, and travel products. Expedia, hotels best rate guarantee, event ticketing
