:Three reasons of the Decline of Feudalism are
- political changes in England
- Black Death
- 100 Years War
How did Feudalism affect the Noble, the commoner and the knight? (better? worse?)
- Noble: there power was shared with the common people. They also forced King John to sign the Magna Carta which became a foundation for people having rights and freedom. However after the plague the power shifted from nobles to common people.
- The commoner: the Black Death caused many deaths so that means less people could work at farms so those who did asked for more money and rights. Thanks to King Edward I, they began having a voice in the government so this helped them built a better life. they began moving to the cities and working as they wished so they had a chance to make a life as they wished. They were happier.
- Knights: They had to fight in the 100 years War so many knights died. The Black Death also killed many knights.
Why was the plague called the Black Death? What were some of the symptoms?
It was called Black Death because of the black and blue swellings on the people’s skin. Some of the symptoms were vomiting, fever, coughing and sneezing, and egg-sized bumps on their sin.
How was the plague spread?
The plague spread by rats that carried fleas. Rats would go on ships and that is how it spread from China, Asia to Europe.
How did the plague contribute to the fall or decline of Feudalism?
During 1346-1351, the plague created many changes in Europe’s economic and social structure.
Many people died so that meant that very few people could farm. This slowed down trade and commerce.
The common people then began to demand more money and they began to move to towns and cities which weakened the manor system and the end of serfdom.
Also, after the plague the power shifted from the nobles to common people.
