7
Q

Making sulphuric acid in the contact process

A

Sulphur trioxide is absorbed in concentrated sulphuric acid
H2SO4+SO3–>H2S2O7 making fuming acid/oleum
Converts twice as much concentrated acid by adding water H2SO7+H20–>2H2SO4
