Q

What are the 4 stages of the human brain for memory that works like a computer? AND an example.

A

1- Information from the environment imputed by 5 senses.
2-Then processed in STM (or WMM).
3-Outputs some behaviour.
4-Store information in LTM (hard drive).
EG- A student from class gets input of information from teacher telling them how to do addition. They process this information and then output behaviour- producing answers to the sums. They then store how to do addition in their memory.

Q

Definition of Encoding.

A

Transforming sensory experience into a form that can be stored in the memory system. EG transforming input into acoustic code in the short term store.
