Define

A

Depression follows a thinking that is biased by negativity.
Negative schema is acquired in childhood and activated in conditions where they were learnt (expected to fail when tested)
Lead to cognative Biases in thinking.

A

A- Activating event (low grade)
B- Rational or irrational belief (i didnt work hard/ my tutor will be sad)
C- consequence Ratrional belief leads to healty emotions, irrational beliefs lead to unhealthy emotions

A

This is a soucre of irrational beliefs that say certain things must be done for an individaul to be happy
His three must are
- must be Approved and Accepted
- must do well
- The world must give me happiness
These musts need to be challanged in order to have mental health to prevail.

Strength- Supporting reaserch

A

Hammen and Krantz(1976)- When asked to interpret a written material depressed people made more errors in logic than non depressed people.
Bates(1999)- Depressed participants who were given negative automatic thought statments became increasignly depressed.

This means alternative thinking wouldnt work as they arent getting to the root of the issue.
