The Circulatory and Respiratory System Flashcards
heart?
is a muscular organ, about the size of a fist, The heart pumps blood through the blood vessels.
blood?
is a body fluid that is constantly circulating
function of the blood?
- Blood transports oxygen and nutrients, such as glucose, carbohydrate, protein, and minerals.
- Blood also helps removing waste substances such as carbon dioxide.
- Blood is made of Plasma, Red blood cells- containing hemoglobin, White blood cells and Platelets.
Blood vessel?
Blood moves through the blood vessels in three parts:
Arteries, Veins, Capillaries
Double circulation?
blood passes through heart twice
Diseases of cardiovascular system:
Heart attack, Hypertension, and stroke
Pulmonary circuit?
is from the heart to the lungs and back to the heart.
Pulmonary circuit is also?
- Deoxygenated blood (carbon dioxide) transported from the right side of the heart to the lungs.
- so, remove carbon dioxide then the
Blood will be oxygenated - Oxygenated blood transported to the left side of the heart.
Systemic circuit?
is from the heart to the other organs and back to the heart.
Systemic circuit is also?
1- Oxygenated blood transported from the left side of the heart to all body organs and tissues.
- Exchange of nutrients and waste occurred in the capillaries
- Deoxygenated blood transported to the right side of the heart.
parts of the Respiratory system?
Nose, mouth, trachea, bronchi, lungs, and alveoli
Alveoli features:
- thin walls, large surface area, moist surface, many bloods capillaries.
Alveoli function:
allow air to pass in and out of the body and efficient gas exchange to happen.
Diseases of Alveoli:
Asthma, Pneumonia and Cardiovascular diseases.
Inhale process (Take oxygen):
- provide the oxygen from air to the lung (alveoli)
- the size of alveoli will expand and fill with air oxygen.
- Oxygen moves from the alveoli into the blood.
The Oxygen will diffuse from the high concertation to low concentration. Then the blood will oxygenate.
