When was the Women’s Land Army reformed?
A
July 1939.

What happened on December 8th 1941?
A
The government introduced conscription for all unmarried women aged 20-30. Women could choose to join the armed services, civil defence or industry. They joined all of these in large numbers were soon doing vital work.

The women’s sections in the army.

What were the effects of women working during the war?
A
The women had been ‘minding’ the men’s jobs. This led to attitudes to women working changing and there was a huge increase in the number of women working by 1951.
