The Carbon Cycle Flashcards
What is the carbon cycle?
The carbon cycle describes how carbon moves between the atmosphere, soils, living creatures, the ocean, and human sources
How does the carbon cycle work
Carbon enters the atmosphere as carbon dioxide from respiration and combustion. Carbon dioxide is absorbed by producers to make carbohydrates in photosynthesis. Animals feed on plants, passing the carbon compounds along the food chain. Most carbon they consume is exhaled as carbon dioxide during respiration
How could we change our lifestyle in order to help the carbon cycle?
We could use more carbon friendly materials, and create more carbon neutral alternatives like solar, hydro and tidal energy
Name me as many different carbon free alternatives as you can
Solar, tidal, wind, hydro, geothermal, bio, zac cornetto
How did humans affect and change the carbon cycle?
Cutting down lots of trees (they won’t be able to absorb Co2), burning lots of fossil fuels
