the most proximal part of the large intestine located between the ileum and ascending colon

act as a reservoir for chyme received from the ileum

describe the vascular supply of the caecum
A
branches of the superior mesenteric vessels. arterial supply is from the ileovolic artery, which divides into the anterior and posterior ceacel arteries which directly supplies the caecum

A
ileocolic vein, emptying into the superior mesenteric vein
