Q

What are the two parts that the human nervous system is divided into ?

A

Its divided into two parts - the retina, brain and spinal cord forming the CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM
The nerves supplying the skeletal muscles and organs forming the PERIPHERAL NERVOUS SYSTEM

Q

What is the function of basal ganglia, thalamus and hypothalamus ?

A
  1. BASAL GANGLIA - are part of the system controlling movement
  2. THALAMUS - is the principal site for the initial processing of sensory information
  3. HYPOTHALAMUS - Is important for homeostasis and endocrine regulation

Q

What is the function of the brainstem, cerebellum and the spinal cord ?

A
  1. BRAINSTEM - Has a role in movement and posture and autonomic function
  2. CEREBELLUM - is important for controlling posture and movement
  3. SPINAL CORD - Is a conduit for sensory inputs and motor outputs. It also processes these signals including the control of pain.
