The Brain Flashcards
What is the cerebrum?
The biggest part of the brain, containing 3 layers: outer layer of grey matter, middle layer of white matter, basal ganglia of grey matter
What are the four lobes of the cerebrum?
Frontal, parietal, occipital, temporal
What is the function of the frontal lobe?
Thinking, voluntary movement, personality, emotions
What is the function of the parietal lobe?
Temperature, touch, taste, pain, movement
eating the hot chip story
What is the function of the occipital lobe?
Processing of visual information
What is the function of the temporal lobe?
Memories, auditory information
What is the cerebellum?
The second largest part of the brain, positioned at the rear of the brain.
What is the function of the cerebellum?
To subconsciously coordinate fine movement of voluntary muscles, as well as subconsciously controlling posture and balance.
What is the medulla oblongata?
