What are ethics?
A set of moral principles or values observed by most people in society.
What are some examples of ethical principles that must be satisfied during any scientific investigation involving humans?
Voluntary participation, informed consent, no risk of harm, and confidentiality.
Define voluntary participation.
Subjects are not pressured into taking part in the investigation.
Define informed consent.
Subjects are fully informed about the objectives of the investigation, procedures that will be followed, and any potential risks or benefits.
Define no risk of harm
There should be no risk of physical or psychological harm to participants.
Define confidentiality.
The identities of the participants will not be revealed to anyone not involved in the study.
