The Blue Cross Flashcards
Who is Aristide Valentin?
He is the head of Paris police
Who is Flambeau?
The world’s most famous criminal; master of disguise except for his noticeable height
Plot Summary
Valentin suspects Flambeau is going to a religious conference to steal something on display. Valentin tries to shadow Father Brown but looses him. Valentin notices that the salt and sugar were switched at a restaurant. Two clergymen switched them and one threw a pot of soup at the wall. One of clergymen said if the last restaurant owner found a package, to mail it to an address. When Valentin catches up with them, they are having a theological debate. The larger priest criticizes reason. He reveals that he is Flambeau and orders Father Brown to give him the blue cross.
What is the significance of switching the sugar and salt?
Most people would’ve commented on the swap unless they were trying to go under the radar.
