Actress Jane Wilkinson asks Poirot to help her get a divorce from her husband, Lord Edgware. Lord Edgware has already agreed to a divorce and wrote Jane Wilkinson a letter stating so. Lord Edgware is murdered the same night Jane Wilkinson attended a dinner party. Inspector Japp informs Poirot of the murder. It is said that Jane Wilkinson went to Lord Edgware’s home, announced herself, and entered the study. During the dinner party, Jane Wilkinson rose to answer a call. Carlotta Adams is also found dead. Gold case with jewels and sleeping powder found in her possession. The butler was Bryan Martin, an actor, in disguise. Carlotta Adams impersonated Jane Wilkinson at the dinner party so Jane WIlkinson could commit the murder.
