- begins at inner canthus at BL1
- over forehead to vertex to intersect w/ DU20
- from vertex branch descends to temples
- branch enters brain & meets GV at Du17
- descends to nape of neck - channel splits
- 1st branch: intersect at DU14 and DU13 then 1.5 cun lateral to midline to lumbar
- goes deep to KD & BL
- sub branch separates at lumbar support & descends along sacrum to popliteal fossa at BL40
- 2nd branch: separates at nape and descends to medial border of scapulat 3 cun lateral to midline to gluteal region
- crosses buttock - descends postero-lateral thigh to meet previous branch at BL40
- descends through gastrox
- emergees posterior to lateral malleolus at BL60
- follows along 5th metarsal to BL67 at lateral 5th toe
What Zang Fu does BL conenct with?
- KD + BL
What is the BL Luo Connecting Pathway?
- separates form primary at BL58
- on lower leg, 7 sun superior to BL60, lateral & 1 cun inferior to BL57
- connectes with KD
- KD3 = yuan source
What is the BL Divergent Channel?
- diverges at popliteal fossa
- ascends 5 cun inferior to sacrum
- winds around anus
- connects with BL
- disperses in KD
- ascends along spine
- disperses in cardiac region
- emerges at neck to rejoin BL channel

- origionates at little toe
- past lateral malleolus -> lateral knee
- bind at BL36 (hamstring attachment)
- spread over posterior shoulder
- connect into eye socket
- binds at occiput
- connection to root of tongue

LOCATION:.1 cun medial & superior to inner canthus
- benefits eyes
- expels wind & clears heat
- vision issues
- heat/wind in eyes = reddness, swelling
BL2: Zanzhu - Gathered Bamboo
LOCATION: superior to inner canthus, in depression at medial border of eyebrow
- eliminates wind & clears heat
- benefits eyes
- clears head & alleviates pain
- itchy, watery eyes, allergies, reddness
- HA (frontal, sinus, eye pain, occipital)
- needled more than BL1 b/c of location - LOCAL
BL3: Meichong - Eyebrows Pouring
LOCATION: directly superior to BL2, .5 cun withing anterior hairline - level w/ DU24
- expels wind, clears the head, alleviates pain
- wind affecting head = HA, dizziness
- benefits the eyes & nose
- nasal congestion/sores
- rarely used
BL4: Quchai - Crooked Curve
LOCATION:.5 cun within hairline, 1.5 cun lateral to DU24 & 1/3 distance b/t DU24 and ST8
- expels wind, clears heat, alleviates pain
- benefits the eyes and nose
- rarely used - similair action to BL3
BL5: Wuchu - 5th Place
LOCATION:.5 cun posterior to BL4, 1 cun within hairline & 1.5 cun lareral to DU23
- eliminates wind, descends yang & clears heat
- clears the head & nose
- effects head more, not really for eyes
- bring things down - upward staring, HA
- rarely used - LOCAL
BL6: Chengguang - Reviving Light
LOCATION: 1.5 cun posterior to BL5, 2.5 cun within anterior hairline &was 1.5 cun lateral to midline
- DU20 = 5 cun back; 1/2 b/t DU20 & anterior hairline
- eliminates wind & clears heat
- clears head & benefits eyes & nose
- vertex HA, wind dizziness, nasal discharge, deviation of the mouth
- rarely used, similair to BL5
BL7: Tongtian - Heavenly Connection
LOCATION: 1/5 cun posterior to BL6 & 4 cun within anterior hairline, 1.5 cun lateral to midline
- DU20 5 cun posterior to anterior hairline, 1 cun anterior & 1.5 lateral to DU20
- benefits & regualtes the noes
- clears the head
- sinus & nasal congesion = MOST COMMON USAGE (used more than BL4,5,6)
BL8: Luoque - Declining Connection
LOCATION: 1.5 cun posterior to BL7, 5.5 cun within the anterior hairline, 1.5 cun later to midline
- benefits the sense organs
- eyes, nose, ears
- pacifys wind, transforms phlegm and calms the spirit
- affecting brain/thinking, CNS
- pacify = int | expel = ext
- rarely used
BL9: Yuzhen - Jade Pillow
LOCATION: 1.3 cun lateral to DU17 (in depression directly superior to EOP, 1.5 cun superior to DU16)
- expels wind & cold + alleviates pain
- cold = contraction + stiffness
- pain in occipital areas
- benefits nose & eyes
- eye pain, nasal congesion
- BL9 + BL10 used to open up upper back
- golgi tendon organ
BL10: Tianzhu = Celestial Pillar
- window to the sky point
LOCATION: on lateral aspect of trapezius muscle, 1.3 sun lareral to DU15 (at C1 or .5 cun inferior to DU16)
- regualtes qi & pacifies wind
- tremors epilepsy
- benefits head & sensory orifices
- calms the spirit
- mania, <3 + brain connection at DU16
- activates the channel & alleviates pain
- occipital HA, neck pain, anxiety -> tension HA
- window to the sky point = rebellious qi to head
- dizziness, HA, stiff neck
- eye issues, upper back, shoulder
BL11: Dazhu - Great Shuttle
- influential point for bones
- sea of blood
- meeting point of taiyang, shaoyang, GV
LOCATION: 1.5 cun lateral to lower border of spinous process of T1
- benefits bones & joints (influential point)
- any bone issue = growth and development, bone abnormality, ridigity of spine
- expels pathogenic factors & firms the exterior
- place where pathogens enter body
- fever, cold, shivering, wind heat, malaria, HA, throat painful obstruction
- place where pathogens enter body
- regulateds LU qi day & alleviates cough
- fullness in chest, dysponea
- COLD/FLU POINT
BL12: Fengmen - Wind Gate
- meeting of BL & GV
LOCATION: 1.5 cun lateral to lower border of spinous process of T2
- expels wind & releases the exterior
- strenthens the defensive qi & firms the exterior
- good for attack of pathogens and deficiency of defensive qi
- disseminates and descends LU qi
- cough, chest pain, dysponea
- benefits the nose (gateway to LU)
- discharge, congestion, rhinitis
- COLD/FLU POINT
BL13: Feishu - Lung Shu
- back shu of LU
LOCATION: 1.5 cun lateral to lower border of spinous process of T3
- tonifys the LU qi and nourishes LU yin
- all lung patterns, excess & xu = cough, dysponea, chest pain, etc
- descends and disperses LU
- clears heat from LU
- cough w/ phlegm
- releases the exterior (wind invasion)
- MOSTLY USED FOR: local upper back, LU issues, release exterior
BL14: Jueyin Shu - Terminal Yin Shu
- back shu of PC
LOCATION: 1.5 cun lateral to lower border of spinous process of T4
- spreads LV qi & unbinds chest
- jueyin = PC + LV
- regulates the HT
- pressure in chest, restlessness, palpitations
- regulates & descends qi
- cough, vomit
BL15: Xinshu - Heart Shu
- back shu of HT
LOCATION: 1.5 cun lateral to lower border of spinous process of T5
- tonifys and nourish the heart
- HT pain, palpitations, chest pain
- regualtes HT qi
- calms the spirit
- poor memory, anxoety, insomnia, speech issues (tongue organ for HT)
- unbinds the chest day & resolves blood stasis
- clears heart fire
- red eyes/face, high BP
- all HT patterns, xu or excess
BL16: Dushu - Governor Shu
- back shu of GV
LOCATION: 1.5 cun lateral to lower border of spinous process of T6
- regulates qi in chest & abdomen
- use back to treat front
- HT pain, brest issues, epigastic fullness
- few indications for GV - more for skin disorders
BL17: Geshu - Diaphgram Shu
- influential point for blood
LOCATION: 1.5 cun lateral to lower border of spinous process of T7
- invigorates blood & dispells stasis
- stasis = sharp & stabbing pain
- opression in chest, pain in HT
- cools blood heat & stops bleeding
- spit up blood, nosebleed, blood in stool/urine
- BLEEDING ANYWHERE IN BODY
- nourishes and harmonizes the blood
- harmonizes diaphgram & descends rebellious qi
- middle jiao reguation - digestive disorders, abdominal fullness, vomit, reflux, hiccup
- painful difficulty breathing
BL18: Ganshu - Liver Shu
- back shu of LV
LOCATION: 1.5 cun lateral to lower border of spinous process of T9
- spreads LV qi
- distention & pain in lateral costal region
- regulates and nourishes LV blood
- pacifies wind
- cools fire & clears damp heat
- LV + HT FIRE = anger, mania depression
- benefits the eyes and sinews
- blurred vision, night blindness, lacrimation
- muscle tension, cramps
- all LV issues: shortness of breath, epigastic pain, abdominal issues, jaundice, sahn disorder, abdominal masses (obstruction of LV qi)
BL19: Danshu - Gall Bladder Shu
- back shu of GB
LOCATION: 1.5 cun lateral to lower border of spinous process of T10
- clears damp heat from LV & GB
- GB/ST heat = palpitations with restless sleep
- clears pathogenic facotrs from shaoyang (GB/SJ)
- jaundice, yellow eyes
- N&V
- tonifies and regualtes GB qi
- tonifies xu (not 1st point for qi xu)
BL20: Pishu - Spleen Shu
- back shu of the SP
LOCATION: 1.5 cun lateral to lower border of spinous process of T11
- tonifies SP qi & yang
- any SP imbalance - no real SP yin xu
- T&T issues - more about activity than storage
- ST stores fluids
- resolves dampness
- diarrhoea, edema, somnolence, heaviness
- raises SP qi and holds the blood
- blood in stools, urin, vomit blood, enorrhagia
- regulates and harmonizes the middle jiao
- tight w/ low back pain = at hinge
BL21: Weishu - Stomach Shu
- back shu of the ST
LOCATION: 1.5 cun lateral to lower border of spinous process of T12
- regulates the ST and descends rebellion
- epigastric pain, distention, constant hunger, lack of appetite
- harmonizes the middle jiao
- support point with BL20
BL22: Sanjiao Shu
- back shu of SJ
LOCATION: 1.5 cun lateral to lower border of spinous process of L1
- moves and regulates the sanjiao
- regulate movement of qi/fluids through 3 jiao
- regualtes the SP & ST and resolves dampness
- dysenteric disorder, vomit, diffcult ingestion, undigested food in stool (SP yang)
- regulates the water passages and promotes urination
- edema, difficulty urinating, turbid urine
- resolves masses
- abdominal masses, zangfu masses
