What does the amendment 1 say?
It guarantees the freedom of speech, religion, press, assembly, and peaceful petition.
What does the amendment 2 say?
It guarantees the right to bear arms.
What does the amendment 3 say? Where is this derived from?
It guarantees the right to refuse to quarter soldiers. This is derived from the hatred of the Quartering Act.
What does the amendment 4 say?
It protects the people from unreasonable searches and seizures.
What does the amendment 5 say?
Amendment 5 guarantees the Due Process Rights. It guarantees just compensation, that the accused must be proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, the ability to take the 5th, the right to a grand jury hearing, and protection from double jeopardy.
What does the amendment 6 say?
It guarantees the right to an impartial jury, the right to hear and question witnesses, the right to an attorney, and the right to knowledge of your trial.
What does the amendment 7 say?
It guarantees the right to a jury trial in a civil case and it states that no judge can overrule the jury.
What does the amendment 8 say?
It protects the people from cruel and unusual punishments and unreasonably high bail.
What does the amendment 9 say?
It states that there are many rights that aren’t written the Constitution, called implied rights. It was put in the Constitution because many people were unsure of wether or not the rights in the Constitution were their only rights.
What does the amendment 10 say?
It states that any power not listed in the Constitution is left up to the states.
