1.) book had to be tied to an apostle
2.) book had to be used in early church services
3.) book had to be in harmony with other scripture
4.) must have been written during the apostolic era so false teaching could be denied by the eyewitness of Jesus ministry
5.) book had to have life changing quality to it.
