what are the 5 practical considerations
A
- time and money: cheap and quick-quantitative more expensive, more time: qualitative
- requirements of funding bodies: funded by either gov, unis or businesses, choice of topic or method may be influenced by who funds research
- personal skills and characteristics: DA victim and a middle aged man
- subject matter: some topics/groups may be impossible to access
- research opportunity: the opportunity to conduct research may be out of the blue, therefore cannot have structure/planned research methods

- informed consent
- confidentiality and privacy: keeping identities of participants private
- effects on participants: sensitive questions causing mental anguish
- vulnerable groups
- covert research: BSA, covert should only be used if its impossible to use any other methods

what are three theoretical considerations
A
- validity: getting a true picture
- reliability: if your research can be repeated
- representativeness: if its used on a large enough sample it can be representative of your population

A
process of using both positivistic and interpretivist methods in order to cover all angles of a topic
