  • hypothesis: possible explanation that can be tested by collecting evidence to prove if its true or false
  • aim: more general, identifying what we intend to study and hope to achieve

what is a pilot study

A

trying out a draft version of the research method on a small sample. BASIC AIM: iron out any problems, refine or clarify questions and their wording
pilot study may make the researcher realise that questions are worded broadly or that the answers are difficult to analyse
