What is the primary objective of the ABCP?
To ensure all soldiers achieve and maintain optimal well-being and performance under all conditions.
Where are males measured for body fat?
At the neck and abdomen.
Where are females measured for body fat?
At the neck, waist (abdomen) and hip.
What is the proper procedure to tape, or measure for body fat?
A full set of each measurement done three times.
How many personnel must be assigned to take measurements for body fat?
Two:
One to place the tape measure to determine measurements, and one to assure proper placement and tension of the tape, as well as to record the measurements on the worksheet.
What favorable actions are disallowed while on the ABCP program?
- Attendance to military professional schools or courses
- Promotions
- Command positions
- Reenlistment
Who are exempt from the requirements of the ABCP?
1) Soldiers with major limb loss
2) Soldiers on established continued on AD
3) Pregnant or postpartum Soldiers
4) Soldiers who have undergone prolonged hospitalization for at least 30 continuous days
5) New recruits
What is considered successful progress?
A monthly loss of either 3 to 8 pounds or 1 percent body fat.
Actions taken after a Soldier fails tape.
- Record measurements on either DA Form 5500 or 5501, respective to gender.
- The Commander has to flag the Soldier using DA Form 268 and counsel/notify and enroll the Soldier in the ABCP. The Soldier will be informed they are flagged from all favorable action.
- The Soldier then must respond to the commander with a Soldier Action Plan.
- The Soldier is further required to schedule an appointment with a nutritionist.
