Q

How do you name an alkene?

4

A
  1. Count the carbons
  2. Count up to the double bond starting from the side it is closest to
  3. Count from the same side up to the alkyl group
  4. Order the name beginning with the position of the alkyl group then the name of the alkyl group then the position of the the double bond then the name according to the amount of carbons i.e. 5-methyl-2-hexane
