What was the OUTCOME of the election of 1824?
•Jackson won popular vote BUT nobody earned enough electoral votes to be elected
•election then went to the house of reps.
•Clay gave his support to Adams (There was a deal)
•Adams became president and elected clay as his Secretary of State
Jackson = OUTRAGED & claimed it was a “corrupt bargain”

Who was Andrew Jackson and what did he do?
Jackson was an orphan, was in the revolutionary war, and he was a military war hero in the war of 1812.
Jackson started to symbolize a new democracy& in his speeches he celebrated majority rule.

- Jackson supporters called themselves Jacksonian Democrats
- Adams supporters called themselves National Republicans
- Jackson beat Adams in election by a lot
