How did Wilson View the Trade Unions?
-Believed in them but wanted to balance the economy so voters would’t turn con.
- Both Wilson and Castle agreed they would need to clamp down on Wildcat strikes
- -> Strikes put a heavy burden on economy.
What was the aim In place of Strife?
-Keep Unions Strong while still protecting the economy.
What were the terms of a place in strife?
- 28 day cooling off period before a strike.
- Strike ballots imposed.
- Demarcation disputes
- Industrial relations court –. persecute those who broke the rules
How was in place of Strife viewed? Was it ever implemented?
-Trade Unions argued it gave too much power to the employer
- Many senior Labour Mp’s against It- Callaghan.
- -> Wilson and castle forced to back down , never became law.
What Tensions were there between Callaghan and Jenkins?
Despite being right of the party;
Callaghan was against the EEC, conservative on social policy and reluctant to devalue the pound.
–> Jenkins took the opposite view
How was Wilson Criticised as Leader?
- Not pursuing enough socialists policies
- Being Obsessed with party politics–> Lost focus on what mattered (economy)

-Abolished the Irish parliament (IR now in UK)–> imposing rule from west minister

- Discrimination is housing, employment and electoral boundaries.
