11
Q

If you encounter Inadvertent IMC, what are your required actions?

A

Aircrews will utilize the TCAS and TAWS/EGPWS to aid in aircraft and terrain separation until in VMC and/or under positive RADAR control and an IFR clearance is received. At all times the crew will remain at least at or above the Off-route Terrain Clearance Altitude (ORTCA) for the enroute portion of the flight until RADAR flight following is provided or on a published Instrument Procedure. The preferred approach will be an ILS or PAR.

Q

What are some things to consider when carrying passengers on TF ODIN aircraft?

A

Guest riders are defined as passengers who have a specific need to be manifested during a TF ODIN mission profile, and have been approved per the TF ODIN guest rider request form. They will be briefed and manifested.

Passengers will be under the escort of a crewmember during aircraft operations, boarding, and off-loading.

Aircraft doors will be operated by a trained crewmember only.

Weight and Balance (365-4) will be calculated for each configuration that does not meet the standard configurations listed in Flight Operations. The PC is responsible for ensuring the 365-4 is accurate, and when necessary, actual cargo and passenger weights should be used.

All passengers will receive hearing protection or get a headset for the flight.

14
Q

When requesting fuel, what must be considered when deciding proper fuel loads?

A

It is crucial that maintenance receives the proper fuel loads to ensure the aircraft meet the 0.8% or 1.2% minimum climb gradient required per the Bagram Obstacle Avoidance Procedure or max weight required for the conditions of the runway environment; VUL times may be affected with higher temperatures and lower fuel loads.

15
Q

When do aircrew require wing walkers?

A

Aircrew require wing walkers whenever taxiing within 10’ of an obstacle. Aircrew will assume any obstacle placed beyond the revetment threshold violates the required wingtip clearance and must have a wing walker.

16
Q

What are the taxi speed limits at Bagram Airfield?

A

Maximum aircraft taxi speed on TWY J is 25 MPH (21 GS).

Aircraft shall not exceed 15 MPH (13 GS) when taxiing on all other taxiways and ramps.

17
Q

Can you take photos on the flight line?

A

No. Photography / videography of any areas within the boundary of the BAF flight line are expressly forbidden without proper authority.

18
Q

How do you report Surface-to-Air fire or lazing incidents when departing Bagram?

A

“Bagram Approach/Tower, Callsign, was engaged by a (type of SAFIRE) at position (radial/DME, departure sector, cardinal direction w/DME, Lat/Long). Defensive flares (were/were not) expended. Lights were (on/off).”

19
Q

What are the documents crewmembers shall read prior to flying in Afghanistan?

A
All crewmembers shall read :
Afghanistan AIP
Special Instructions (SPINS)
Afghanistan CFACC Guidance
Afghanistan - Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP) for situational awareness and aeronautical information that pertains to military and civil aviation operations in Afghanistan.
20
Q

What is TF ODIN’s local flying area?

A

The local flying area is within the geographical boundary of Afghanistan.

21
Q

What are the Fixed-wing altitude restrictions?

A

Except for takeoff or landing, fixed wing aircraft will not operate below 5,000 feet AGL, unless otherwise authorized in the ATO. During enroute phases of flight, fixed wing aircraft will operate IAW Special Instructions (SPINS). Deviations from altitude restrictions will be coordinated with ATC or TAC C2.

22
Q

Aircraft will not depart or land on a runway with the Breaking Action reported less than “______”.

A

FAIR.

Aircraft will not depart or land on a runway with the Breaking Action reported less than “FAIR”.

23
Q

What is a weather watch?

A

Weather Watch indicates that potential exists for dangerous weather conditions. A weather watch does not require increased risk approval but indicates that a higher level of approval may soon be required.

24
Q

What is a weather advisory?

A

Weather Advisory issued with an advanced notice requirement is known as a Forecast Weather Advisory (FWA) and advisories issued to provide notice of an occurrence are known as an Observed Weather Advisory (OWA). Weather advisory may require increased risk approval.

25
Q

What is a weather warning?

A

Weather Warning indicates dangerous weather conditions are occurring or forecast to be imminent. A Weather Warning requires an increased level of risk approval to moderate or high depending on the conditions.

26
Q

TF ODIN aircraft with an APX-119 IFF transponder will squawk what modes?

A

TF ODIN equipped with an APX-119 IFF transponder will squawk modes 1, 2, 3 and 4 for all flights. The APX-119 will be loaded with current codes and tested prior to flight.

27
Q

What is the minimum amount of flares required for the CMWS on EMARSS aircraft?

A

80%

28
Q

How do you conduct an ad-hoc or dynamic mission change?

A

When a mission parameter change occurs, this is normally a Top-Down approval request starting from the serviced customer. Once an 8-Line is formally requested or pending for approval the aircrew must confirm with the TF Ready Battle Captain that their asset is approved for the change in mission.

29
Q

When can crewmembers make a precautionary landing?

A

Aviators in the unit will make a precautionary landing at any time the safety of flight is in question. When the PC makes a precautionary landing for mechanical reasons, the aircraft will not be moved until the cause has been determined and corrected by appropriate maintenance authority. Precautionary landings due to adverse weather will be the exception. A one-time “Circle Red X” flight to return the aircraft to a maintenance base may be authorized by the ATP Commander after an inspection and recommendation by appropriate maintenance personnel.

30
Q

The PC will notify the MBO and FMAA of changes to the Electronic Risk Assessment Worksheets when?

A

The PC will notify the MBO and FMAA if any risk values increase during pre-mission and final planning and request to be re-briefed and re-approved. The aircrew’s approved risk assessment worksheet will be, maintained, at the appropriate flight operations area.

31
Q

What is the “Clean Air Concept” for cold weather operations?

A

No aircraft will take off with ice, snow or frost adhered to any of the following surfaces: windshield, wings, stabilizers, control surfaces, pitot and stall probe systems, engine nacelles, intakes or pylons.

32
Q

Thunderstorms will be avoided by ____ NM at all times.

A

20 NM.

Thunderstorms will be avoided by 20 NM at all times.
