What does HCI stand for?

What is usability?
the extent to which a product can be used by specified users to achieve specified goals with effectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction in a specified context of use.
What is effectiveness?
The accuracy and completeness with which specified users can achieve specified goals in particular environments
What is efficiency?
Efficiency is defined as the resources expended in relation to the accuracy and completeness of the goals achieved.
What is satisfaction?
Satisfaction is the comfort and acceptability of the work system to its users and other people affected by its use.
What is user-centered design (UCD)?
UCD is an approach to user interface design and development that involves users throughout the design and development process. User centered design not only focuses on understand the users of a system but also requires an understanding of the tasks that users will perform with the system and of the environment.
What are the two types of knowledge needed for UI design?
Information gathering activities and analyses.
User interface design knowledge.
