Q

BMI what is it and how is it tested?

A

We can use our height and weight to calculate our Body Mass Index or BMI.
This gives us an idea of how heavy we should be for our height. BMI is only an
guide and does not take into account the types of body tissue that make up
our body. Just because your BMI may be in a particular range, doesn’t
necessarily mean you are unhealthy or unfit.
The formula for BMI is weight ÷ height2

Q

What is the Beep test?

A

This test involves continuous running between two lines 20m apart in time to
recorded beeps. . The speed at the start is quite slow. The subject continues running between the two lines, turning when signalled by the recorded beeps. After about one minute, a sound indicates an increase in speed, and the beeps will be closer together. This continues each minute (level). If the line is reached before the beep sounds, the subject must wait until the beep sounds before continuing. The test is stopped if the subject fails to reach the line (within 2 meters) for two consecutive ends after a warning.

Sit-up test: What is it?

A

This test simply records how many sit ups you can do in one minute. Start
doing sit ups when your teacher blows the whistle. You do not have to do sit
ups constantly, but do as many as you can before your teacher says stop. Don’t
forget to keep count, or have a partner count for you.

Q

What is the vertical jump test?

A

Standing with feet flat on the ground under the test, reach as high as you can
with your hand and brush your fingers through the test.
Your teacher will take note of the height of your reach.
Crouch down then jump as high as you can on the spot,
reaching up and brushing your hands through the test
again. Repeat and see if you can get any higher. You only
need to brush your fingers through the test. Do not hit
the test equipment, as it will cause you to get inaccurate
results.
