Seminoma, Mixed Germ cell Yolk sac Non seminoma germ cell tumour (NSGCT) Teratoma
Clinical Features of Testicular Cancer
Painless testis lump found after trauma/infection
Haematospermia
Secondary Hydrocele
Abdominal mass or lung mets causing dyspnoea.
Risk Factors for Testicular Cancer
Undescended testis, infertility, infant hernia, HIV
Investigaitons for Testicular Cancer
Excisional Biopsy
Alpha featal protein, Beta hCG hormone, LDH
CXR, CT chest/Abdo/Pelvis
Treatment of Testicular Cancer
Radical Orchidectomy and radiotherapy - Stage 1 95% cure rate using this therapy.
Chemotherapy bleomycin, cisplatin, etoposide used in Stage 3+mets for cure.
Prevention and prognosis
Self examination,
has a 90% 5 year SR.
