Primary Hydrocele

A

Fluid in the tunica vaginalis.
Due to a patent procesus vaginalis - more common and larger.
Can aspirate or resolves in 1st year of life.
Surgical plication of prcoesus vaginalis.

A

Due to tumour, trauma, or infection.

Epididymal orchitis

A

Inflammation of the epididymus or testis.

Caused by Chlamydia, N. gonnorrhoea, E.coli

Sudden onset, tender swelling of the testicle,
Dysuria, sweats and fever,

First catch urine sample needed - testing
STI screen

Treatment - doxycycline if chlamydia/E.coli. Ceftriaxone if gonorrhoea.

Varicocele

A

Incompetent valves in veins leads to back flow in the pampiniform plexus.
Dilation of veins - feels like a bag of worms.
Left side affected more.

Cough impulse? hernia?
