Test types Flashcards
BOA Age
0-6 months
what does BOA measure?
BOA measures an infant’s awareness of sound; does not provide threshold information
VRA age group
5 to 36 months of age
Name unconditioned response tests
BOA
Name conditioned response tests
VRA & CPA
A major problem with using the auro-palpebral reflex, the Moro reflex, or changes in limb movement or respiration is that these behaviors are not elicited to ________ stimuli, but rather are responses to ___________ stimuli
Threshold stimuli
Supra threshold stimuli
Discuss some ways to maximize the sucking response in BOA.
Hungry but not extremely hungry, not tired or sleepy
Timing is key
- response must be seen within 2 seconds of sound
Positioning the infant
The testers; minimum of 2 testers
BOA test protocol
-bring infant into test room, hungry
-seat infant so torso is supported and not figitdty & easily see mouth
- monitor state during testing stop if they bedome figuisgty
VRA begins at what db
starting tests at 30 dB improves the probability of starting close to threshold.
VRA is completed at what frequency range
Testing is typically completed in the frequency range of 500-4000 Hz; most critical for speech & language development.
CPA age range
30 months to 5 years- corrected age
CPA stimulus
Warble tone or narrow brand of noise
CPA frequency
begin at 2,000hz then 500hz
after if 2 & 5 normal obtain 4 & 1
if HL not normal obatin interactive (1,000)
NU-chips age
3-5
WIPI age
5-8
