The purpose of this fitness test in “fitness for all”.
These are the abilities of students in Class 1-3, which are essential to be measured for controlling the body in different situations.
- BMI
- Flamingo Balance Test (Static Balance)
- Coordination Test (Plate tapping test)
The Body Mass Index is also known as-
Quetelet Index invented by Adolphe Quetelet.
Define BMI.
BMI is very easy to measure and evaluate. With the help of BMI, one can come to know whether one is underweight, normal weight, overweight or in the category of obesity. BMI can be defined as the individual’s body weight divided by the square of his height. where the weight of an individual is measured in kilograms and the height of that student is taken in metres.
Explain BMI test.
The Body Mass Index (BMI) test is a simple procedure that requires a weighting machine and a stadiometer. Here’s a brief overview:
Preparation: Ensure the person being measured is wearing light clothing and no shoes.
Equipment: You’ll need a scale for weight measurement and a stadiometer for height measurement.
Procedure: Measure the person’s weight in kilograms and height in meters. Then, calculate BMI using the formula: BMI = weight (kg) / [height (m)].
Brief overview of the flamingo
ability to check static balance successfully on a single leg. measures strengh of the leg, pelvic and trunk muscle.
Infrastructure- Non-slippery even surface, Stopwatch. Performed by standing on one leg on a thin line for 5 to 8 year-old o a beam for 9 to 18 year-olds.
Scoring- The total number of falls of loss of balance in 60 seconds in recorded.
Brief overview of Coordination Test
Measure the speed and coordination of limb movement.
Infrastructure- Table, 2 yellow discs 20 cm diameter, rectangle (30*20cm), stopwatch.
Procedure- Adjustable height of the table, Grey discs 60cm apart. The preferred hand is moved back and forth between the discs over the hand in the middle as quickly as possible. This action is repeated for 25 full cycles (50taps).
Scoring- Time taken to complete 25 cycles in recorded.
