Management is a process as planning, organizing, actualizing and controlling to determine and accomplished objectives of the use of people and resources.

planning
Planning is the major function of sports event management because it sets the pace for further steps to be taken in the sports event management. Planning works as a road map in attending the organizational goals. Planning is decided well in advance about what to do, when to do and how to do it. It fulfills the gap from where we are and where we want to be.
Organizing
Organizing is a process of bringing physical, financial, human resources and developing good relations between them for the achievement of organizational goals.
The process of organizing involves identification of activities, classification of grouping of activities and assignment of duties.
Staffing
The main purpose of staffing is to put the right man on the right job and at the right time. so for proper staffing well qualified officials, for different types of jobs in sport management, should be selected.
Directing
Directing is the heart of management function. Directing refers to the process of instructing, inspiring, guiding motivating and leading all the individuals (officials) towards the accomplishment of organizational goals. Communication, supervision, motivation and leadership are the essential elements of directing.
Controlling
indeed it is a process of comparing the actual performance with the set standards to ensure that activities are performed according to the plans and if not then taking corrective action.
Various committees of organizing track and field meet
Publicity committee, Transportation Committee, Boarding and Lodging Committee, decoration and ceremony committee, grounds and equipment committee, committee for refreshment and entertainment, Reception committee, committee on entries and programs, committee for officials, announcement committee, first aid committee, financial committee.

During tournament responsibilities
✓ To ensure proper arrangement during inauguration of sports tournament
✓ to check that the sports ground and relative sports equipment are in order
✓ to ensure that the sports events is being organized as per schedule
✓ to check the arrangement of refreshments to players and officials
✓ to make necessary announcements regarding the progress of the tournament
✓ to impart first aid to the injured athletes
✓ To prepare proper score sheet for record
✓ to provide and update information to the electronic and print media
✓ To maintain proper discipline
post tournament responsibilities
✓ to give away the prizes and certificates to the winners
✓ To provide detailed results and other necessary information to the media
✓ to provide security refunds to the departing teams
✓ to collect all the records related to the sports tournament
✓ To make the payments to the officials and other concerned person
✓ to prepare reports related to the expenditure of the tournament
