  • Background information (weather, what people were doing, setting/time frame)
  • Habitual/repetitive (ex souvent, d’habitude, chaque semaine, toujours, tous les jours, tous les lundis)
  • Conditions/state of mind for unspecified time (savoir, connaitre, penser, etre, avoir, vouloir, pouvoir, aimer, détester)
  • Continuous action (ex: + depuis)
  • Venir (imp.) de + infinitive = had just happened
  • (Et) si + imparfait for (1) inviting someone (2) suggesting action (3) wish/regret
