Secondary-

males only… beard, broader shoulders
females only.. breasts, hips
Female period cycle
1) FSH - from pituitary - stimulates folicle to mature and produce estrogen
2) Estrogen - from ovary - thickens uterine wall and stops FSH
3) LH - from pituitary - ruptures follicle, repairs it (into corpus luteum)
4) Progesterone - from pituitary - keeps uterine wall thick and keeps FSH off
Why is it important for the hormone made by the membranes around the embryo to keep the corpus luteum alive?
IF THE CORPUS LUTEUM IS ALIVE IT KEEPS MAKING PROGESTERONE WHICH KEEPS WALL OF UTERUS THICK – SO DEVELOPING BABY CAN STAY ATTACHED AND THE PLACENTA CAN FORM – FROM WHICH DEVELOPING BABY GETS ITS NOURISHMENT AND GETS RID OF ITS WASTE. IF CORPUS LUTEUM SHRIVELS UP THEN NO PROGESTERONE AND EXTRA LINING OF UTERUS LEAVES – MENSTRUATION – NEW CYCLE.
