Q

Why is it important for the hormone made by the membranes around the embryo to keep the corpus luteum alive?

A

IF THE CORPUS LUTEUM IS ALIVE IT KEEPS MAKING PROGESTERONE WHICH KEEPS WALL OF UTERUS THICK – SO DEVELOPING BABY CAN STAY ATTACHED AND THE PLACENTA CAN FORM – FROM WHICH DEVELOPING BABY GETS ITS NOURISHMENT AND GETS RID OF ITS WASTE. IF CORPUS LUTEUM SHRIVELS UP THEN NO PROGESTERONE AND EXTRA LINING OF UTERUS LEAVES – MENSTRUATION – NEW CYCLE.
