- Displaying a single photo is recommended
- Minimum 6 photos (suspect plus filler)
- No right to attorney
- Convenient for witness and victims
What are key aspects of a show-up?
- Identification is inherently suggestive
- Guides officers in determining to look further into perpetrator
- Accuracy/reliability is greater at that time
- Permit speedy release of an innocent person
What are key aspects of live lineups?
- Scheduling the lineup at a time that is convenient for all parties
- At least have 6 persons in physical lineup
- Witness views no more than one person at a time
- Avoid actions, statements to sway witness decision-making
