Test 3 Mixed Review Flashcards
What is hypoxia?
A lack of OXYGEN in your system and brain resulting in a loss of basic cognitive function
What colour are oxygen cylinders?
high press. GREEN
low press. yellow
Where is the REGULATOR located in a PERMANENT continuous flow system?
apparently the wall BUT might be at the top of the tank
What is the purpose of a RE-BREATHER mask?
Reduce the amount of oxygen wasted by putting exhaled oxygen into a bag
What are some safety precautions when servicing oxygen?
CLEAN everything
No fire/smoke
Plug/cap everything
Do it slowly
Describe the Solid Oxygen System?
Chord is pulled resulting in ignition of the Sodium Chlorate resulting in O2 for 10-20min
What is atmospheric/barometric pressure?
- 7psi
29. 92 inches of mercury
Why do we pressurize the aircraft?
We fly in higher ALT
Reduced fuel consumption
Oxygen for the people
Describe metal fatigue
The cycle of pressurization and depressurization of the aircraft which weakens the airframe = airframe must be strong
How are turbine engines pressurized?
Jet pump (venturi) Turbo Comp (turbine) AC pack
What is cabin altitude and what is it measured in?
Air pressure in the cabin
feet above sea level
Define constant differential mode
Air pressure inside the cabin is maintained to have a difference with outside
What is the cabin pressure controller?
This is where you input PARAMETERS to control the pressure regulator which controls the outflow valve
What is the outflow valve?
Regulates air pressure coming OUT of the cabin
What is a safety valve?
pressure flowing FROM the cabin
prevents over pressurization
