Fluid intelligence
The ability to actively think and reason (abstractly)
we peak and then it starts to decrease as we get older
Crystallized intelligence
Knowledge-based
(has to do with our knowledge-based, facts and experiences, we continue to learn and continue to add to our knowledge base all through life, something that only increases over time)
Aptitude test
A test designed to predict a persons future performance
Achievement test
A test designed to assess way person has learned
Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences
Verbal Mathematical Spatial Bodily kinesthetic Musical Interpersonal Intrapersonal Naturalistic (We all have skill areas, but we all have greater in different areas)
Savant intelligence
Having intelligence in an area on steroids. You have a talent that is extreme in one area. Heightened intelligence in one area. Often associated with autism but that’s not always accurate.
Social intelligence
Being able to get along with other people or work well with them
Emotional intelligence
InTouch with our own emotions as well as notice others emotions
Practical intelligence
Being able to deal with changing situations. StreetSmarts.
Steinbergs triarchic theory of intelligence
3 different areas we get our intelligence from
Analytical intelligence (information processing) Creative intelligence (the aspect of intelligence that includes insight and creativity) Practical intelligence (The practical side of intelligence or StreetSmarts)
Ability to learn from experience, solve problems, and use knowledge to adapt to new situations

The proportion of variation among individuals that we can attribute to genes (percentage attributed to heredity) generally speaking about 50% of our intelligence level is genetic. Environment does play a role.
